MODERN SPIRITUALISM
Traditional Spiritualism has it's early roots in France and later in England when in post war Britain, Spiritualist Churches opened and thrived in a time of extreme national sorrow following great loss of human life from not one but two World Wars. It was much easier for Spiritualists to find acceptance at this time by becoming a religion based in Churches. Later during the 60's and 70's popularity declined, partly from the damning exposure of fraudulent practice but also due to the increasingly bouyant mood within the world in general as the baby boomers grew up and shaped modern life during the golden years.
During the late 1990s Spiritualist Churches witnessed a revival in popularity as many young people, disillusioned with the status quo and seeking a deeper meaning to life, joined congregations seeking "something more". Indeed, Spiritualism continues to discreetly hold its own as millions are made on both sides of the Atlantic, from the "New Age" industry and membership of some religions steadily falls.
Modern Spiritualism is neither a Religion or New Age,
It is a Way of Life.
One can be Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, Catholic or Hindu and still be a Modern Spiritualist.
When asked, I tell people I have no religion but I am of every religion because I AM a Modern Spiritualist.
Modern Spiritualists believe that all are of one God and that all roads lead to the same God ... For God is Love.
Through Mediumship, evidence of eternal life is proven by the Spiritualist Medium.
Too many religions create separation among people but
Modern Spiritualism dissolves those boundaries and seeks to foster spiritual unity. Similar to Buddhism and Sufism, Modern Spiritualism is a very peaceful path of personal responsibility, chosen by souls who understand that we are here, first and foremost, to evolve as spiritual beings.
